Men Are Funny

Men are funny just like us.  We all do weird stuff.

My friend Helen from Sydney Australia gave me this little phrase.  Men swear when they can't find words.  Hey, its a put down and there may be an element of truth to it.

Don't get me wrong, we don't want to put those guys down.  We love em! Mostly.  Our dads, our brothers, hubby's, friends. Living without them wouldn't be any fun.  We just don't want to be controlled by them, right!

This blog is definitely not about bashing men.  It's more about how we as women can work towards equality.  Female empowerment you might say.

Life is a lot more exciting if one is conscious.  Maybe make a little more effort in looking at how we think and why we do what we do at any given moment. We can get into a rut, thinking we can't change our circumstances and feel anger and resentment.

Hopefully this blog will inspire you a little bit to share with others your experiences on creating a more equal world.  Just that little extra effort goes a long way.  Have you been reading this blog and making no comments, or not be willing to become a follower just because you are a little lazy?  Jump in, make friends here.  Give us your stories, your version of what makes a difference.

Men are funny, but so are we.  Humor is the best way of breaking the ice! Com on now, get with it?

Your Aussie friend may be correct about men and swearing. However, I have read there have been studies made about how many words men vs. women speak each day. Some of this may be hardwired into us.

Men speak about 2,000 to 4,000 words per day verses women who can speak 6,000 to 8,000 words per day according to research in one book, "Why Men Don't Listen, and Women Don't Read Maps" by Allen and Barbara Pease. In addition, men use fewer verbal sounds and less body language then women by far. I believe men are simply less verbal and run out of words when compared to a typical female. And where are men at the end of the day? Most are with the women in their lives who are talking their ears off.

"Connecting with Your Husband" by Gary Smally indicated that "Men are aggressive when driven", in a business situation. . . . Men tend to have a "fight or flight" response to stress situations while women seem to approach these situations with a "tend and befriend" strategy”.”

“Men tend to process better in the left hemisphere of the brain while women tend to process equally well between the two hemispheres.”* Women are not only capable of expressing thought and emotions more easily, they exhibit more creative ways of showing both the logical and creative sides of themselves than men.*

Additionally:
“Women, on the other hand, are more susceptible to mood disorders such as depression and anxiety.”*
“Men are also more likely to be diagnosed with autism, ADHD, and Tourette’s Syndrome.”*

Therefore, I believe men are frustrated in either not having the capacity to creatively express their logical thoughts, logically express their creative thoughts, or they simply have used up all of their regular vocabulary for the day, become aggressive and cuss!

Fortunately, “Women are also more likely to vocalize their pain and to seek treatment for their pain than are men”*

In looking at men vs. women brain differences these listed are amoung other items such as processing math and caregiving for children. We have some issues to surmount on the biological side as well as on the social, economic and cultural ones.

I really think the difference in communication between the two sexes is there for an evolutionary purpose. Men save their words for important moments like a plan of attack or protecting the home base. Whereas women use their words more loosely which tends to comfort, nurture, and spread valuable information to the rest of the community. It just goes to show how harmoniously women and men can live in society with different yet equal roles. We are opposite sides of the same coin.

W O R D S

Humor:

A husband reads an article to his wife about how many words women use a day...
30,000 to a man's 15,000.

The wife replied, 'The reason has to be because we have to repeat everything to men...
The husband then turned to his wife and asked, 'What?'
