Destiny

I think about women's equality issues a lot.  Goes along with tolerance of each other which has always been close to my heart.  Anyone who has been following these postings from the beginning knows how I feel about tolerance.

What would equality look like?  Same rules apply to both genders essentially.  Able to earn the same wages, defend the country, be represented in government or board rooms which is where the power really is, etc.  Many issues would need to be changed.

How many of us are guided by our own gut feelings, our DESTINY in other words? Probably not too many of us.  As we grew up, the media through television, magazines, movies played a huge part in how we viewed our roles in society.  Our aspirations where often set by others, wanting the latest trendsetter, the biggest house, the cutest car, clothes etc.  Our preferences or prejudices were often set by others without a second thought.

How many of us are guided by our churches, temples, groups, clans, which set up expectations of male leadership and female subservience?

The point is, do we as women listen to our own common sense in regards to how we value ourselves or are influenced by others?  Can we envision turning off all those constant communications coming at us from the Internet and whatever sources of media we prefer?  Can we listen to ourselves, our DESTINY?  Would that make us stronger?

What do you think?

To encourage the participation fully of women in the world, staid institutions must be left behind. The largest and longest impediment is that of religion. Restrictions, taboos, and down right violent elimination of women has occurred and is constant, world wide in the name of religious beliefs. All major religions have condemned women in their oral and written doctrines. Very few religions were founded by women. Male originated theology has had the majority of influence in the over all character of women’s lives for eons.

Unfortunately the separation of church and state is disappearing, political pundits and ‘celebrities’ claim, they will 'bring back' true national aims by putting the Deity into the process of government. The only thing being adjusted is the clock being turned back in time and women loosing rights gained from thousands of years of struggle.

The most effective way to proceed is for each of us to become involved in the political world by reading, studying and asking questions. We can not accept our information spoon fed to us. Educate yourself and work to get the facts and get those facts put in to our discussions where common sense hopefully will prevail. Questioning everything is necessary, and makes noise when there is injustice. Also, let’s work for equal rights for all, which means getting the religious discussions out of the states houses. All of us benefit, although I believe women would receive more, as they are now have less of everything as a group. Our financial, emotional and mental wellbeing depends on everyone having the same rights which are that of our human rights.
